miscellaneous ramblings
I really love these kind of posts...If I'm going to be random, at least it's all in one place :) I hope you don't mind!

1. Yesterday we hit the pool for the first time this year. It felt amazing to go swimming - and sort of weird at the same time. It felt like summer would never arrive...and now that it's here...well, let's just say I'm mentally unprepared for it! I'm not complaining though.
(I know...this picture is over edited, but I couldn't resist throwing it in here)
2. Y'all are amazing. I seriously can't believe that I hit 75 followers today! It's crazy. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I could get to know so many wonderful bloggers. Thank you so much for making this possible!

3. Yesterday a sweet friend of ours brought over a rainbow cake. Just because. How thoughtful is that?! Didn't she do an amazing job? It tasted amazing too.

4. I'm 95% positive that I'm going to get a Nikon D3000...but I'm still debating between that and the D5000. I don't know if I'm ever going to make up my mind! Sigh... decisions, decisions.

5. Check out Jeremiah's camouflage. He stuck small bamboo branches in his hat and tucked leaves under the brim. To complete the look, he smeared his face with green face paint. I admit that I laughed when I saw him, though.

6. It's high time for a Sarge update. Our 8 month old Lab/border collie mix is over 60 pounds (Yes. 60 pounds!)...but he thinks he's tiny. He's still a puppy - and acts it - but at the size of some grown dogs, it can get a little crazy when he's excited! He is the sweetest dog, though...he and Lilly love to wrestle. It's hilarious!

a sunday at the river
On Sunday we went to the river (the Arkansas, which can hardly be called a river, at least in our part of the country, as it's 2 feet deep in the middle. Seriously.). All along it they have paved trails for bicycling/running/walking/taking the whole family plus the dog, two bikes, and a skateboard, etc. If you hadn't guessed yet, we did the latter.
It was gorgeous out. It was one of those days where it seems the sky couldn't get any bluer and everything couldn't be more vibrant.
(While we were taking a break, I took a picture of myself. It was supposed to show that it was warm enough that I didn't need a jacket and could actually feel my hair on my shoulders. Instead it turned out like this.)
(This picture is sort of chaotic - with Lilly pretty much right in front of the camera, and my dad cut off - but there's something about it I really like.)
I digress. Back to my story (if there was one at all). We decided to climb down from the trail to the water via a steep slope (I got dirt in my shoes. And I was wearing black skinny jeans. Dirt and black skinny jeans don't really mix.).
But once I made down the hill, which took a while, it was amazing. It actually felt like being at the ocean...it even smelled like it. There was sand between my toes, a gentle breeze blowing my hair, and a perfect place for pictures.
Looking at these pictures again makes me want to forget the piles of homework I have and go tan by the river.
How was your weekend?

alive
Today was one of those days.

Not one of those days, but one of those days that make you incredibly thankful that you're alive. It got up to 60 degrees (woohoo!!!), the birds were chirping, the sun was out, everything smelled like spring. It was amazing.

I went on a walk with Sarge. He's a rather...interesting dog. He's not exactly dumb, but he has some quirky habits.
Like biting his leash.

He will just grab hold of it with his mouth and not let go. When that happened today, I tried to pull it out of his mouth...

...a game of tug of war broke out. Not that I really wanted to play it.

Finally he let go and walked normally. For most of the time.

But in the time he did walk normally, it gave me a chance to take some pictures.

As I was taking pictures, I realized that there are so many beautiful things that we see everyday but don't really notice.

From something as simple as kids playing hopscotch...

(I love those little feet)

...to an amazingly blue sky...

...to a quirky dog.

Makes me feel so thankful that I'm alive.
